Whether you come to Chicago by train, plane or automobile Two Urns offers a wonderful respite in the historic and hip Wicker Park neighborhood.
"It is hopeless for the occasional
visitor to try to keep up with Chicago. She outgrows his prophecies faster than he can make them. She is always a
novelty; for she is never the Chicago you saw when you passed through the last
time."
Mark Twain
The music lover finds in Chicago a heaven. From the world's greatest Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Lyric Opera to The Double Door (where the Rolling Stones played) or the Empty Bottle you will find something to please the ear. Lollapalooza and Pitchfork festivals are just a skip beat away from the Two Urns. Chicago is the birthplace of The Blues and you can listen, mingle and sing with some of the Blues' greatest at Taste of Chicago, Millennium Park concerts, neighborhood festivals or nightclubs like Buddy Guys, Blues or Rosa's.
Food, food, food. Chicagoans traveling outside of the city, when asked what they miss the most from Chicago? Reply: "!!The Food!!" Greek, Chinese, Mexican, Mediterranean, Swedish, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Arabian, Indian, Japanese, Ethiopian, Nuevo-Latino or simply American. Ah!! Some of the best restaurants in the city are located in the Wicker Park/Bucktown neighborhoods, you can have a complete culinary vacation, using Two Urns in Wicker Park as your headquarters without ever having to take a bus, taxi or paying for valet parking. Michael Carlson's Schwa is just 5 blocks away in a very unpretentious storefront and down the street from him you can get some of the best "tacos de lengua" or ingredients to make your own in the Guanajuato supermarket. On Division Street you will find some of the best barbeque in the city at Smoke Daddy's, a Mexican cantina with great tacos at Angels and Mariachis, superb sushi at Mirai, the only totally organic Midwest place, Crust, or just some darn good fries at Jerry's, where you can choose from over 100 craft beers. If you are desperately seeking
SUE, you will find her at the Field Museum of Natural History:
Sue is the most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex in the world
and the museum is an architectural jewel not to be missed. Spend a whole day on
the museum campus,
bring walking shoes and camera. Walk a few steps to the Shedd
Aquarium or the Planetarium and take in the most
magnificent view of the Chicago from inside the Lake. We really don't recommend renting a car if you are staying with us - Public transit is convenient and affordable and the Blue line subway, 3 bus lines and a taxicab stand are only 1.5 blocks from our front door. Only if you are heading out of the city to visit relatives or other sights might you need to rent a car to make it more convenient for you during your stay. There is an Enterprise rental car agency nearby on North Milwaukee Avenue or on West Division Street (they are the ones that pick you up) and it makes it easier than sitting in hours of traffic to and from the airports or paying $25 parking lot fees every time you move your car downtown. For those of you driving in from out-of-town we offer free parking to our guests - off-street for the most part. Check-in is by appointment. If you are unable to arrive on time, please call us to re-arrange a mutually convenient time to arrive. We are not always at home and our staff may not be in hearing range of the door bell at all hours of the day. "Check-in is a two-way street and communication the key to an open door."
