really don't recommend renting a car if you are staying in the city to sightsee,
visit museums or shop - Public transit is convenient and affordable and the Blue
line subway, 3 bus lines and a taxicab stand are only 1.5 blocks from our front
d.oor. Only if you are heading to the suburbs
might you need to rent a car to make it more convenient for you during your
stay. There is an Enterprise rental car agency nearby on 1842 North Milwaukee
Avenue, 60647. (They are the ones that pick you up) and it makes it easier than sitting
in hours of traffic to and from the airports. Call Enterprise at
773/862-4700 or check at: www.enterprise.com.
We also highly recommend public transit or taxicabs to go to and from us to
downtown, museums or ball parks. If you must drive your car somewhere,
please check for parking lots near where you are going at:

parking is very expensive downtown ($25-30/range) and cab fare runs about $8-10
to most downtown sites.
Check-in is by appointment or from 7-7:30 pm daily. If you are unable
to arrive on time, please call us to re-arrange a mutually convenient time to
arrive either earlier or later than the regular check in time. We are not always at home and our staff may not be in hearing
range of the door bell at all hours of the day.

Location From Downtown (The Loop)
Located just 2.5 miles NW from the center of downtown Chicago (The Loop), we are
1.5 blocks from the Division/Milwaukee stop on the Blue Line Subway, the #9
Ashland and # 56 Milwaukee buses; 1/2 block north of the #12 Division Street bus
or 3 blocks south of the #16 North Avenue bus.
We are 3 blocks west of the Kennedy I90/I94 Expressway at exit 49A - Division
Street and then 1/2 block north on Greenview. Via car or cab we are just 5
minutes from the Loop or Michigan Avenue (about $7 in a cab); 30 minutes door to downtown via the Blue
Line subway (this includes time for walking and waiting for a train).
Location From McCormick Place
We are 6 miles NW from McCormick Place; approx. 15 minutes via car or cab with
cabfare running approximately $11.
Location From Hyde Park
We are 10 NW miles from Hyde Park, the University of Chicago or the Museum of
Science and Industry.
Location From Airports
We are 15 miles SE from O'Hare International airport and a cab ride will run
between 35 minutes to 1 1/2 hour depending on traffic jams and will cost
approximately $40-45. Be sure to give the cab driver our address and tell him:
"Near Milwaukee, Division and Ashland." However, we highly recommend
taking the Blue line subway to us. Unless you are traveling with lots of
young children, excess baggage (there is no elevator or escalator on the
Division exit of the Blue Line) we really think the CTA Blue line subway is the
best way to get to us and easily you can have a great lunch for the difference
in price. Currently $2 per person. You can purchase a debit-like
Transit card or a CTA Visitor Pass for 1,2, 3 or 5 days at the CTA entrance.
If they are out of Visitor Passes, we also sell them at the inn, just put enough
money on your debit card to get to us. Just be careful that their
machines do not give change back, so if you put in a $20 bill, you will get a
Transit card that has $20 on it. Up to 7 people can share one transit
card.
We are 10 miles NE from Midway airport, cab fare should run around $25-35 and take
approx. 25 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. Be sure to give the cab
driver our address and tell him: "Near Milwaukee, Division
and Ashland." You can reach us via the ORANGE line subway by taking
it outbound of Midway to the "Clark/Lake" stop and transferring to the BLUE line
subway. No transfer or extra money is required, just follow the signage to
the subway. Take any train headed towards "O'Hare" and get off at
Division stop", just the 3rd one from Clark/Lake.
DOOR-TO-DOOR VAN SERVICE IS NOW AVAILABLE FROM AIRPORTS!!
A "door-to-door" Airport Express van service is now available near the baggage
claims. Rates for 1 person are between $20 -$25/ per person from either O'Hare
or Midway airports and are slightly less per
person if more than one of you are travelling to the same address. (A cab
is just as reasonable for 2 or more traveling together). I
Although this service is handy for single
travelers, we do not highly recommend it. For some reason we are the last
stop and guests spend a lot more time touring neighborhoods of Chicago than they
really want to do. Their drivers are not always very good at finding
their way through the city. We still recommend the subway to get to
us.

To use the service to return to an airport you need to make reservations at
least 24 hours in advance.
Directions from O'Hare (Blue Line Train) Fare is
$1.75.
Take any outbound subway train to Division/Milwaukee. Above ground, walk east 1
block on Division
Street (head between the City Sports store and the tall high-rise building).
Turn left at Greenview
by HUE (Hilary's Urban Eatery restaurant); walk 1/2 block north to 1239 N.
Greenview. We are on the
right-hand side of the street. Please ring the intercom at the right-hand door to
check-in.
Directions from Midway (Orange Line "El" to Blue Line Subway)
Fare is $1.75.
Take any outbound train to the Clark/Lake stop. Exit train (no transfer is needed) and
follow the signs underground to the Blue Line subway and take any train headed
towards "O'Hare". Get off at
Division/Milwaukee and above ground, walk east 1 block on Division Street (head
between the City Sports store and the tall high-rise building). Turn left at
Greenview by HUE (Hilary's Urban Eatery restaurant); walk 1/2 block north to
1239 N. Greenview. We are on the right-hand side of the street. Please ring the
intercom at the right-hand door to check-in.
Directions from Amtrak or Union Station
Walk 2 blocks south to the Clinton (Blue Line subway) stop. Take any train
headed towards O'Hare. Get off at Division and above ground, walk east 1 block
on Division Street (head between the City Sports store and the tall high-rise
building). Turn left at Greenview by HUE (Hilary's Urban Eatery restaurant);
walk 1/2 block north to 1239 N. Greenview. We are on the right-hand side of the
street. Please ring the intercom at the right-hand door to check-in.
Directions if Driving or taking a cab
Take the Division Street (Exit 49A) off the I-90/94 "Kennedy" Expressway and
head west 2.25 blocks
to Greenview Avenue. We are on the first street without a stoplight - as a
visual marker, on the corner is a restaurant called HUE (Hilary's Urban Eaterly).
The inn is 1/2 block
north on the right-hand side of the street. Tell cabbies or Airport Express
drivers that we are near "Milwaukee, Division and
Ashland" or show them the map that follows. Please double park the car, put
on your blinkers and check in first before parking
behind the inn. Parking on our block is by permit only and you will be
ticketed. There is also a public parking lot just behind HUE restaurant
that is $.25/hour and is monitored 24 hours/day.

Parking
Limited off-street parking is free and garage parking is available to guests
booking the Bucktown apartment, or the la Chambre des Amis and Blue Rooms.
On street parking is difficult and available on the blocks north of us.
Our street is permit parking only A
city parking lot is also available directly behind HUE and is $.25/hour and is
monitored 24 hours/day. Parking on our block is by permit only and the
police are diligent about ticketing all hours of the day. Please double
park in front of the inn and put on your blinkers to check in - $50
parking tickets are
issued if your car is parked on our block without a residential parking permit.
Odd as it may seem to you, you will not be ticketed for double parking
for a short while in front of the inn. If you need to find parking
